Congrats on the Prologue! I installed a non-Honda charger at home, and it works great. There a lots of good options out there for you to choose from.

I received a lower-than-expected estimate of $1,100 from HHE, even with the Honda credit. I've also gotten a local quote for around $800, and I have another one scheduled for Monday. Since Iowa Electric Light and Power Company is offering a $450 rebate, I think I'll skip HHE.

The good news is that my electrical panel has enough capacity for a 60-amp breaker. I was initially concerned because I already have a dedicated 240V/60A breaker for the swim spa/hot tub, in addition to the range, dryer, and HVAC.

I installed the 40 AMP, Autel AC Maxicharge Lite in the garage. Wired with a 2 pole, 50 Amp CB, NEMA 14-50 Receptacle and 6 Ga, 3 Conductor harness enclosed in conduit. Working alone it took me the better part of a day to complete. The Autel charger is very robust and works well. I’m using it as a “dumb” charger with the car controlling the charging. I’ve been using the “Charge Later” feature with a 6 AM completion. I still need to try the Prologue Charge “Schedule” feature. I tried it with the Honda Portable charger and it did not work, would start charging immediately. BTW, the “Charge Later” feature also did not work with the portable charger. The black “holster and holder” on the wall support the Honda Portable charger if/when I use it.
