I’ve been noticing a weird issue with the clock in my Honda Prologue, it keeps running fast when set to automatic time. Mine was about five minutes ahead when I first got the car, and switching to manual mode fixed it temporarily. I even tried disconnecting the 12V battery for a hard reset, which actually worked for me, but a coworker with the same car still has his clock running three minutes fast even after trying the same trick.

Has anyone else run into this? It really seems like a software issue since we can’t get a clear answer at the dealership level either.

that definitely sounds like a software glitch. You’re not alone, seems like a few Honda models have had similar clock issues. Switching to manual time seems to be a temporary fix, but I’ve heard some dealerships mention a pending software update. Have you checked if your infotainment system is fully updated?

I have exactly the same issue since I bought the car 2 weeks ago.

I haven't had that issue, but it definitely sounds like a software problem. It might be a good idea to contact Honda support or check for any available software updates.

My Prologue is 7 minutes fast. First noticed this a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have time to worry about. Yesterday, I played with it some. I could set it to match my iPhone's time (to the nearest minute) after turning off the "automatic time" setting, but when I turn "automatic time" back on, it jumped ahead 7 minutes again. I've compared my iPhone to a weather station/clock with a WWV radio receiver and to my computer's internet time (NTP-based) and all 3 are the same to within a fraction of a second. Only my car is different. (My phone also always agreed precisely with my old Garmin GPS, but I put that in a drawer somewhere when I got the Honda with built-in GPS, so I have to find it and charge it to check that.)

I've seen several recommendations to do a factory reset on the Honda, but I don't know how to do that, and some people claim it doesn't work, or that they then had to manually restore all their custom settings or both, so I would like a little more certainty before trying that.

It is definitely a software bug of some sort, but it is hard to imagine how they might have screwed this up in this fashion. (50 years of programming experience, I know a bug when I see one!) Maybe they failed to correctly calculate the number of milliseconds in 5 hours for the UTC to local timezone display adjustment? (I'm currently in US/EST.)
