Does the Auto Tailgate Stop Before Hitting?

Hello, everyone.
Quick question about the automatic tailgate: does anyone know if it will stop on its own if it gets too close to something, such as a garage door? I keep putting my hand at the top to stop it because I'm afraid it'll hit, but every time I do, it simply closes when it detects my hand.

Is there a sensor that will keep it from hitting anything, or will I have to keep doing this manually? Any advice would be appreciated!

Looks like there’s no proximity sensor in there! Instead, the tailgate just stops and backs up if it encounters resistance from either direction - pretty chill, right? But if you're worried about it extending too much, no sweat! You can totally set a limit on how far it opens.

Agree with @Beezy101. You can just set it though. Just go to Settings > Vehicle > Comfort and Convenience > Power Rear Gate Opening. You can then set the height you'd want when it opens.

Yo, guys! Wouldn't work to test the resistance feature by gently blocking the tailgate with a soft object?

got it! I didn’t realize there wasn’t a proximity sensor, but that makes sense now. It’s kind of reassuring that it stops and backs up if it hits something, but I guess I’ll just have to trust it a bit more, haha.

I didn’t know you could set a limit on how far the tailgate opens, that’s a game changer! I’ll definitely look into adjusting that so I don’t have to keep stopping it by hand. Thanks ! I gotta go check it !
