Just got my hands on a shiny new Honda Prologue and I’ve got a couple of quick questions. First off, can I use a third-party adapter to juice up at a Tesla charger, or am I outta luck? Also, I’m eyeing the Honda L2 charger for home - anyone tried their installation service? How’d it go? Lastly, I’ve got the Elite trim and there’s this white icon popping up in the upper left of the HUD. Any idea what that’s about? Appreciate any tips!

There are these third party adapters out there, and some folks have given them a shot. But one buyer discovered theirs didn’t play nice since Tesla hasn’t opened the door for Honda compatibility. Also, the Tesla site throws a warning about using these adapters, so just keep that in mind!

For the L2 Charger - the installers are Honda-certified, which means if you want that sweet three-year warranty or a cool $500 credit, you’ll have to roll with them. They might charge a bit more - probably coz they’re tight with HHE - but it’s a smart move to snag quotes from them and another company too. Just a heads up: upgrading your electrical box is gonna hit your wallet hard, no matter who you go with!

And for the white icon you've mentioned, I think that’s the Sport Mode indicator, but hey, I’m not 100% since I don’t actually have the Elite trim!

Hope this helps!

Congrats on your new Prologue. It is an awesome car.
So, for Tesla charging, yeah, some adapters are out there, but Tesla's not officially cool with it yet. Heard a few stories where folks ran into issues using third-party ones. Best bet is to stick with Honda's network for now. As for that Honda L2 home charger, I have heard good things about the installation service. They are Honda-certified, so you will be covered if anything goes sideways. Might cost a bit more, but worth it for peace of mind.

About the white icon, it is probably the Sport Mode indicator, as @BradThompson already said. Switch it off and see if it disappears.

Hey, @robertarino, great questions!
Regarding the Tesla charger, while third-party adapters exist, they are hit-or-miss.
Tesla hasn't officially approved any Honda-compatible adapters yet, so it is risky, both for compatibility and warranty concerns.
For your Honda L2 home charger, the installation service is solid.
Honda-certified installers can ensure everything is done to spec, and you will benefit from their 3-year warranty.
However, if your home's electrical system needs upgrades, like a panel change, that could significantly increase the cost.
As for the white icon, @miraclesonwheels41 and @BradThomson are right.
It activates when you are in a more aggressive driving mode.

I am in the same boat with my Prologue.

I didn't bother with the third-party Tesla adapter. Too many unpleasant stories out there.

I went with Honda's charging network to keep things simple.

As for the home charger, the installation was smooth, but I did need to upgrade my electrical panel.

It brought back memories of simpler days when cars didn't need home installations.

And don't worry about the Sport Mode. Just enjoy the extra power, haha!

Congrats on your new Prologue, @robertarino! 😃

About the Tesla charger adapter, with all my honesty, I would steer clear. The risk just isn't worth it, especially if Tesla hasn't officially approved it. You could end up with some pricey repairs if something goes wrong, and I guess you don't want to deal with that.

Go for the Honda L2 home charger. More peace of mind because of Honda-certified installers and the 3-year warranty. If you need electrical upgrades, get multiple quotes to avoid getting overcharged. Good luck!

If you own a Tesla Wall Charger, the TeslaTap Mini 60A is an excellent choice. The A2Z is also a good and cheaper option. If you get a small one, you can keep it plugged into the wall charger all the time. When you need to travel, you can easily remove it.
