I recently read about the difference between hardwired and portable charging. According to these guys, there are some significant differences between hardwired and portable car chargers. Hardwired chargers are generally faster and safer, but they are more expensive to install. Although portable chargers are less expensive, they may have compatibility issues.

Hardwired chargers offer a more reliable and faster charging experience, especially for home setups, but installation can be pricey depending on your electrical setup.
Portable chargers are definitely more budget-friendly and give you flexibility for on-the-go charging.
Just make sure to double-check compatibility with your vehicle to avoid any headaches.
What EV are you charging, and are you leaning towards one option over the other?

I like the hardwired option more because of the speed and reliability. Also, they tend to be safer in the long run, you know? And yeah, you might be right with the costs. Anyway, what kind of EV do you have? What charging options are you more into?

I decided to use a 50A plug outside my house so that I wouldn't have to replace the charger later. Hardwired chargers would have been more difficult to install. My Juicebox charger broke after 5 months. I purchased an Emporia charger, installed it myself, and it has been working properly for about a year. I also keep a portable charger in my car for travel.

I have been reading about different types of charging setups.

One thing I learned is to consider the electrical load of the house.

What I mean is some hardwired chargers (the higher amp ones in particular) can put more strain on your system, potentially leading to costly upgrades in your electrical panel.

But, if you plan to move or want a more flexible solution, portable chargers give you that ease without any heavy installation.
