About two weeks ago, we picked up a brand-new 2024 Honda Prologue for my wife. We were so impressed by how it drove that just five days later, I got one for myself too. Great news, right? Or so I thought… Since we’re waiting for our Honda Home Charger to be installed, I figured we’d use a Tesla Supercharger station just 10 minutes away. I even spent $250 on a Lectron Adapter to connect our Prologues to the Tesla network for long trips.

But here’s the problem: we can’t seem to charge either car! Tesla chargers, Volta stations at two different local Giant supermarkets, even the chargers at our Honda dealership—all have failed us. We downloaded the Tesla app, but the charger shuts off right after starting. The dealership’s charger didn’t work either, unless the service manager used a “special” supervisor card.

The dealership says their chargers are being serviced because of these issues. Volta support had no answers. And as for Tesla, we haven’t even been able to reach someone who can tell us why the adapter won’t work. I’m starting to wonder if this is a widespread issue or if we’re just missing something. Is it an app, a software problem, or just bad luck? Hopefully, we’ll figure things out when our home charger is installed next week.

Anyone else out there struggling with this, or are we the only ones with charging problems? I’m crossing my fingers that both our Prologues aren't lemons!

Currently, Honda vehicles can't use Tesla superchargers, as they await the official adapter from Honda and Tesla's full compatibility. Non-Tesla chargers like EVgo and ChargePoint have some reliability issues. By late 2024 or 2025, your Prologue should be good to go with the adapter. An L1 portable charger gives about 3 miles per hour - so roughly 30 miles overnight. There are a few local L2 chargers, but expect to wait around 8 hours for a full charge.

So, first, you are not the only one encountering these problems. Right now, Honda vehicles like the Prologue aren't fully compatible with Tesla Superchargers yet. Both Honda and Tesla are working on official adapters, so it is expected that full compatibility will come sometime in late 2024 or 2025. In the meantime, as @Beezy101 mentioned, EVgo and ChargePoint are options for you, though they can be unreliable sometimes.
I wish you patience and good luck!

Hey, @Amada_88!
Have you considered going for some of the more local, independent charging networks?
You would be surprised to see local stations can be more reliable than the larger networks during these transitional periods.
A home charger will take a lot of the stress, anyway.
Btw, you are not alone in this, haha!

Reading out the conversation, my conclusion is it is just a waiting game. I think the best you could do is follow @fullEV8's suggestion.

Ah I didn’t realize the official adapter for Honda and Tesla compatibility wasn’t out yet. I guess I jumped the gun getting the Lectron adapter. I’ll hold tight until the official one comes out, but in the meantime, I’ll have to manage with the local L2 chargers or just use the L1 for now, even if it’s painfully slow.

It’s good to know the timeline for when the Tesla superchargers will be fully compatible though—late 2024 or 2025 feels like a long wait, but at least there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for clearing that up and giving me some options to work with. Hopefully, things get easier once we have a home charger set up!

Not sure if this is an answer that is too late......When you set up your Tesla app, so you can use their charger, pick Chevrolet Blazer instead of Honda Prologue. Everything that I have been seeing is that it works.
