Hey y'all!

I just got my quote from HHE to install the charger but the price seemed pretty high even with a $500 credit. But I considering getting a second quote from a local company. I have an unused 220 circuit in my garage but the Amp is too low, but $1600 seems like a whole lot! Has any one else let go of the $500 installation credit and found a cheaper way to install?

I really feel that the credit is not actually there, the company just adds some bucks to their charge to make it look like a good deal. Any thoughts?

hey, @Kimiko!
I have been in the same boat.
When I had my EV charger installed, the first company I talked to quoted me over $2000, even with a supposed "$400" credit".
I wasn't convinced, so I called up a local electrician for a second quote.
Guess what?
He installed it for almost half the price.

So, I would recommend getting another quote, especially since you already have the 220 circuit.
They may just need to boost the amperage, which shouldn't be too costly.
The credit thing does feel like a bit of a marketing trick sometimes, so it is always good to compare.

Let us know what you find out. Have a great one.

I have heard similar stories where the installation credits seem like they were offset by higher quotes. Have you asked them if there was anything extra in the price?

I have 200 amps of power and an empty 50 amp outlet in my basement near the garage. Installing a charger should be simple, but the cable must be at least 50 feet in length. Honda quoted me around $2700, but I might get another quote from a different company.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That’s really helpful to hear. I’ll definitely get a second quote and see what a local electrician says. It does seem like a marketing trick with those credits.

You might be on to something, I haven’t asked about any extras in the price yet, but I definitely will dig a little deeper to see what’s really included.

Wow, that sounds pretty straightforward with the power you have, $2700 seems steep, so getting another quote is a good move in my opinion. Let me know how that goes
