Leased our Prologue in December and currently have 1,900 miles with nothing but praise for the car. Last night while departing a perfectly flat parking space, I noticed what I would describe as a “popping” noise upon placing it in Reverse. Almost the sound (and at least in my mind, feeling) of placing a gas powered car in drive after parking on a hill. It’s the first time I’ve heard any sound at all when placing in gear. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. A little nervous after the CV joint complaints.

If it was a one-time thing, it could be a minor mechanical shift, like the parking pawl or slight brake movement. But if you start hearing it consistently, I’d have it checked. Some early EVs have reported issues with CV joints or drivetrain components, and Honda has had some complaints on CV joints in other models. Might be worth monitoring to see if it gets worse.

Interesting that you mention this. When we engage reverse, I hear some mechanical “whirring” at the tail end of the car. Like switches and gears are being activated. It’s fairly noticeable. I thought it was normal. I’ll add this to the list of peculiarities of our Prologue. Wife still loves it though. 😊
